POLLARD SCOOP LABC AWARDS AT SOUTH WEST REGIONAL FINALS 2016
Regional contractor, Pollard have been recognised at the South West Local Authority Building Excellence Awards for their work on a mixed use development in Street for Mendip YMCA.
The awards ceremony held in Plymouth, attended by 350 construction professionals from the region, saw Pollard receive “Highly Commended” awards in the categories of Best Small Commercial Building and for Site Agent of the Year, given to their manager Martin Selwood, as well as a nomination as finalist in the Best Public Service Building category. Commenting on the awards Managing Director of Pollard, Bill Badham said:
“We are thrilled that our work on this extremely challenging project has been recognised with several awards. This highly important development, which will provide much needed affordable housing and community facilities, was constructed on a difficult and restricted site which demonstrated the expertise and dedication of our staff, resulting in a project in which we can all be proud.”
The development in the heart of Street comprises a mix of 21 apartments to provide affordable accommodation for young people together with a ground floor retail unit, offices and training room.
South West Regional Chair of the LABC said“LABC awards allow us to showcase the very best examples of construction throughout the South West and recognise the high levels of skills and professionalism the building industry is capable of reaching. Being shortlisted for an LABC award means a project has met, and in many instances exceeded, exacting standards set by LABC.”
