WORK COMMENCES ON
NEWTON’S PLACE

Following a competitive tendering process by Newton Abbot Town Council, South West Regional Contractor Pollard, with offices in Plymouth and Bridgwater, have been awarded the contract to undertake the conversion and restoration of the former St Leonards Church in Newton Abbot.

To be known as Newton’s Place, the Grade 2 listed building, having stood empty for many years will be transformed into a new combined museum, community space and council offices. Works commenced in November 2018 with the museum exhibition fit out due to complete for Christmas 2019.

Commenting on the award, Pollard’s Managing Director Bill Badham said: “This is an enormously important community project providing much needed facilities. In addition the development will give the local economy a significant boost as a large proportion of the supply chain we employ will be from the Devon region".
